The Advanced Practitioner for the Hospitalist Program provides acute care services to patients in the inpatient setting; including initial encounters and dispositions, daily patient rounding, consultations, preventive care and patient education. Patient care is provided under the supervision of the supervising physician. Completion of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program or Advanced Practice Nursing Program is required. Licensure required: Current license to practice in state of New Hampshire, Current DEA License, Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, or American Nurses Credentialing Center, and Current ACLS certification. Provider experience required. Responsibilities include obtaining patient health history, performing physical examinations, developing differential diagnoses, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosing acute and chronic medical problems, prescribing and managing medications, providing individualized patient education, documenting in medical records, communicating with multidisciplinary care teams, and performing medication reconciliation upon admission and discharge. The role requires physical activities such as lifting, bending, fine motor skills, and exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
