The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and successfully closing electrical projects across residential, commercial, or industrial sectors in Connecticut. This role ensures all work meets CT-specific code, safety regulations, and client expectations, while staying on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical project execution: from bidding and design coordination through installation, commissioning, and close-out.
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, local inspectors, and utilities—particularly in municipalities like New Haven, Hartford, Stamford, etc.
Ensure compliance with NEC standards and CT’s state/local electrical code, including licensing requirements.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety.
Manage drawings and RFIs, and work with designers and drafters on technical details.
Liaise with local building officials, utility companies, and third-party inspectors for timely inspections and approvals.
Compile project status reports, forecasts, change orders, risk assessments, and punch lists.
Mentor and supervise PM staff, superintendents, foremen, and field teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
5+ years’ experience managing electrical projects (commercial or industrial preferred).
Deep knowledge of National Electrical Code and CT-specific amendments (e.g., mandatory solar installations post-2022 CT regulation updates).
Connecticut Journeyman or Master Electrician license—or ability to obtain one.
Strong budgeting and scheduling skills (MS Project or Primavera P6).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing abilities.
Proficient with CAD, BIM, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills
Experience with design-build and fast-track project delivery.
Familiarity with LEED or sustainable energy systems.
Understanding of utility coordination and permitting processes in Connecticut towns and cities.
