Emergent Software is seeking a Senior Data Engineer who is smart, passionate, detail-oriented, and enjoys Data Engineering work using the Microsoft suite of data solutions. A qualified candidate has knowledge of developing and maintaining data processing software and can perform both Database Engineer and, to a lesser extent, Database Administrator responsibilities. This 100% remote position is for self-starters with good communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage work across numerous clients and priorities. The role requires a technical professional who thrives in dynamic environments, can wear multiple hats, and is passionate about designing, maintaining, and optimizing modern data systems. Required Experience Understanding of data modeling design patterns like 3NF and star-schema. Experience with data warehouse design using medallion architecture or snowflake methodologies. Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, or Snowflake. Experience with Power BI, Azure Data Factory, performance tuning, stored procedures, database migrations, and Azure SQL solutions. Nice to Have Experience Advanced SQL syntax and production environment configuration. Knowledge of Availability Groups, failover clustering, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and monitoring tools. Experience with VM sizing, backup/recovery plans, and Microsoft certifications such as DP-600, DP-700, PL-300, DP-300.
